Hey there university students and faculty! You're invited to two awesome, jam-packed days in Charlottesville, Virginia.
Meet local founders, explore company offices, attend a rockin' block party, and meet fellow student entrepreneurship leaders from across VA / DC / MD. You won't want to miss this.
Read on for the full schedule.
Friday gives you a taste of Charlottesville's startup scene, through startup tours (students only) and a rockin' block party.
10am - 4:30pm: Startup Tours
We all meet up in Downtown Charlottesville for 5 guided tours of local startup offices. You'll hear from companies small and large on their stories, their mission, and what they look for in student interns and graduates.
And you'll have some tasty lunch on us, too.
5 - 10pm: Tom Tom's Fall Block Party
(Think of Tom Tom like our local SXSW.) This is Tom Tom Fest's epic end of summer jam.
The Fall Block Party at the IX Art Park brings great bands, public art, food trucks, and a beer garden to Charlottesville's revitalized art park.
Oh, and you'll enjoy some free craft beer while you dance the night away.
Saturday is focused on sharing proven and impactful methods for building the entrepreneurship ecosystem at your university. You'll walk away with a playbook on how to best build your university's entrepreneurship community, whether you're a student or faculty.
10am: Good Morning
Role call! We'll all meet after breakfast at our student community and hacker space, HackCville.
10:15 - 11am:
Simply Awesome Events
Media & Marketing
These two discussions will be run in parallel and moderated by our speakeres.
In "Simply Awesome Events," we'll talk about the logistics behind running startup trips. We'll also be sharing and discussing some of our best, most unique events so we can brainstorm new event ideas for your organizations.
In "Media & Marketing," we'll talk about how to share your success stories through rich digital media. We'll also talk about marketing your organization's events.
11:15am-12pm:
Working with Alumni
Membership Growth
These two discussions will be run in parallel and moderated by our speakers.
In "Working with Alumni," we'll talk about ways to meaningfully engage with your school's entrepreneurial alumni, including our successes with Wahoowa this past summer.
In "Membership Growth," we'll talk about how we handle student membership, recent changes we've made to the program, and how we advertise our membership each year.
12-1:30pm: Lunch
Eat some tasty Cville food and network with your fellow entrepreneurial leaders. Start brainstorming some ideas for the Design Challenge!
1:30-4:30pm: Entrepreneurial Design Challenge
We want you to walk away from this event with new ideas to take back to your organization. Take the information you learned from this morning's discussions and turn them into actionable plans for the future.
4:30-5pm: Closing Talks
